Initial Treatment:

1. Establish individual patient's goals for therapy, to assess against clinical outcomes, for example:

  • Decrease frequency/severity of infections
  • Decrease number of opportunistic infections
  • Decrease number of antibiotic treatments or prescription orders
  • Decrease number of hospitalizations for infections
  • Decrease chronic fatigue
  • Decrease diarrhea episodes
  • Improve/maintain pulmonary function
  • Improve the quality of life

2. Initiate IG therapy in accordance to the condition indicated and for adults by the severity:

  • Consider antibiotic and/or antifungal prophylaxis and vaccinations in addition to IG treatment
  • Initiate IG treatment for:
a. Children: 0.4 - 0.6 g/Kg every 3 - 4 weeks
b. Adults Less Severe Conditions: 0.2 - 0.4 g/Kg every 3 - 4 weeks e.g. sinusitis
c. Adults More Severe Conditions: 0.4 - 0.6 g/Kg every 3 - 4 weeks e.g. splenomegaly, opportunistic infection, bronchiectasis on CT scan
